Permian Basin Needle Arts is a chapter of the South Central Region of the Embroiderers' Guild of America. It serves the Permian Basin of West Texas and the cities of Midland and Odessa. PBNA celebrated its 28th year in February, 2011. We currently have 12 members, and we continue to increase awareness of the EGA in our area.
PBNA participates in national EGA events, and local members are full members of the EGA with all rights and access to its programs and educational opportunities. PBNA also participates in South Central Region activities. Our members enjoy the annual SCR Seminar, and we are looking forward to attending Seminar in Austin this coming summer. Many of our members take advantage of the education programs available through national EGA and the South Central Region.
Some of our local activities include stitching samplers to present to new Habitat for Humanity home owners. We just completed our 104th sampler! We have also participated in Midland's Celebration of the Arts in past years. Two of our members are instrumental chairpersons in the annual Permian Basin Fair and Exposition Creative Arts division. We encourage all of our members to contribute items in the needlework categories. We have lots of winners and lots of fun participating!
We love to share our love of stitching with everyone in our communities. If you love stitching, we welcome members of all skill levels to our group. We meet the 3rd Thursday of every month at Grace Lutheran Church in Midland at 3000 West Golf Course Road. Sit and stitch begins at 6:30 p.m. The general meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. You are welcome to visit twice before deciding if you want to join the organization.
